Bryce Young was so bad that Dave Canales had to go back on his word
Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans were already giddy on Monday after the Bucs took down the mighty Detroit Lions on their turf but then they had another reason to be psyched. The Carolina Panthers are a mess and that's reason to celebrate.
Former Bucs offensive coordinator Dave Canales was hired as the Panthers head coach over the offseason and is probably regretting his decision two weeks into the season. Not only have the Panthers been absolutely atrocious on the football field through the first two games, now they've already decided to punt on their former first overall pick, Bryce Young.
Yup, that's right. Despite giving up a ton to the Chicago Bears for the right to move up to the top pick in the draft, the Panthers have decided they've seen enough from Young and are naming Andy Dalton the starter. This is after the fact that Canales said Young was the Panthers' quarterback. Didn't take much for Canales to change his mind, did it?

Simply put -- The Panthers are a mess. This is a team that not even a decade ago made it to the Super Bowl and nearly won it. Now they're the laughing stock of the league and for good reason.
In their two games so far this season, they've been blown out by a total score of 73 to 13. All Bucs fans can do is laugh at this point because it's funny enough to see the Panthers so bad but it's even funnier that they mortaged their future for Young, who appears to be terrible.
For those who haven't been closely monitoring the former first-overall pick, Young has thrown for 245 yards and three interceptions while getting sacked six times. He's been JaMarcus Russell bad and for anyone who had the misfortune of watching Russell while he was in the league, that's saying something.
Fortunately, the Bucs are in a great spot. They're 2-0 with a red-hot Baker Mayfield, an incredible defense, and still have two games to go against the Panthers this season.
