With the 2025 NFL season fast approaching, and fresh off the release of a new alternate throwback, it’s the perfect time to rank the Buccaneers’ uniform combos.

The team has one of the most unique identities in sports, with colors like creamsicle and pewter that belong only to Tampa Bay. With one of the best wardrobes in the NFL, the Bucs can never go wrong, but some combos stand out amongst the pack. Here’s a look at how they stack up heading into the new season.

7. Red Jersey/White Pants Combo

This isn’t a bad look by any means, but it’s an unnecessary deviation from the team’s iconic red-and-pewter combo. The Buccaneers already wear plenty of white throughout the season — 11 of their 17 regular season games in 2024 featured white uniforms — so on the rare occasions that they do break out the red jerseys, they should be paired with pewter pants as part of the team’s signature home uniform. No other NFL team includes pewter in its color palette, and the Bucs need to embrace that uniqueness rather than swapping it out for even more white.

Perhaps the bad memories atached to this look from a season ago have left a sour taste. The team wore the red-and-white combo just once in 2024, during a Monday Night Football clash with the Baltimore Ravens. The Buccaneers lost both Chris Godwin and Mike Evans to significant injuries during the game, and the defense got humiliated by Lamar Jackson, who tossed five touchdown passes. Perhaps leaving this combo and its bad mojo in 2024 would be a good idea.

The Buccaneers’ all-white digs are a sharp, clean look that allow the red, black, and orange accent colors to really pop. It’s a fine uniform combo, no doubt, but it doesn’t fully capture the identity of the team or make the most of the Bucs’ unique color scheme like some of the higher-ranked options.

When you have something as distinctive as the pewter pants in your arsenal, it’s tough to justify shelving them multiple times a year in favor of a more basic all-white look. Again, this is a very solid uniform, but it simply doesn’t stack up to some of the more iconic combinations on the list.

Some of the greatest memories in franchise history have been made while the team wore the white-and-pewter combination. Rondé Barber made his legendary pick-six against the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2002 NFC Championship Game wearing this uniform en route to the team's first Super Bowl victory.

During the 2020 Super Bowl run, the Bucs wore these uniforms in three straight games as they defeated the New Orleans Saints, Green Bay Packers, and Kansas City Chiefs to lift the Lombardi Trophy.

Needless to say, this uniform combination is tied to some of the greatest moments in Buccaneers history, and as the best road option in the wardrobe, the white-and-pewter combo should continue to be the go-to look in big games for years to come.

4. Creamsicle Throwbacks

The Bucs’ iconic throwback option is a nostalgic look, and the creamsicle orange uniforms remain a massive part of the franchise’s history and identity. The organization finally brought them back in 2023 after a long hiatus, and it’s easily one of the most beloved throwback looks in the entire league.

Here’s hoping the Buccaneers can finally attach some winning memories to this iconic look, because historically, it hasn’t exactly represented winning football. Since 2009, the Bucs are a miserable 1-5 when wearing the creamsicles as a throwback.

They’ll look to flip the script this season when they don the creamsicles for a Week 15 Thursday Night Football showdown with the Atlanta Falcons in a game that could carry massive implications in the race for the NFC South crown.

3. Red Jersey/Pewter Pants Combo

The Buccaneers’ classic home uniform does a great job of showcasing the team’s iconic red-and-pewter colorway. The franchise won its first Super Bowl wearing this combination during the 2002–03 season, so it will always hold a special place in the hearts of Bucs fans.

Unfortunately, the team only wears this combo a handful of times each year, continuing a frustrating trend of only sparingly using their best looks. In 2024, the red-and-pewter home combination appeared in just four regular season games, and didn’t even make its season debut until December.

The team typically opts for white at home early in the season to force opponents into darker uniforms under the brutal Tampa heat and humidity, which is a logical strategy, but one that limits the screen time for one of the most iconic uniforms in franchise history.

2. White 1976 Throwbacks

A big theme on this list has been embracing the team’s unique identity, and few uniforms scream “Tampa Bay” more than this look. The newly released throwbacks are sharp, and have a real argument for the top spot. The creamsicle and red secondary colors really pop against the all-white base, creating a clean but distinctly Buccaneer aesthetic.

There’s also the novelty factor of paying homage to the team’s original uniform combo, bringing it back just in time for the franchise’s 50th anniversary. The Bucs will be breaking these out twice in 2025 — first in the Week 3 home opener against the New York Jets, and again in Week 5 on the road in Seattle, where the Seahawks will also wear their throwbacks in what could be the best uniform matchup of the season.

It took no time for these throwback uniforms to become an instant fan favorite upon their release, and if the Bucs can scratch out a couple wins in them this year, they might just earn a permanent spot in the rotation moving forward.

1. All-Pewter Color Rush

The all-pewter color rush is not only Tampa Bay’s best look, it’s one of the best uniforms in the entire NFL. The uniform is very unique to the Buccaneers, featuring a head-to-toe ensemble of the team's signature pewter color.

Unfortunately, despite their popularity, the Bucs have all but shelved these beloved uniforms, opting not to wear them at all in 2024. The pewter jerseys were heavily featured during their 2020 debut, appearing in the maximum three games. Former head coach Bruce Arians, who famously has a passion for fashion, even lobbied for the team to wear the all-pewter look in Super Bowl 55 against the Chiefs, but league rules didn’t allow alternates in the big game.

But from 2021 to 2023, they were reduced to just one appearance per year, and now seem to be getting slowly phased out of the team’s rotation. Maybe the rarity adds to their appeal -- they say absence makes the heart grow fonder, but it’s disappointing to see such an amazing look be neglected.

Between the immense popularity of the creamsicle throwbacks, and the recent release of the white 1976-era throwbacks, the future of the all-pewter look is up in the air. Unfortunately, it seems like the Buccaneers’ best uniform combo is either being shelved for good or, at best, relegated to a road alternate to be worn just once a year.
