For the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and their fans, the 2020 season was one for the ages.

It began with a whirlwind offseason that included new uniforms, the signing of Tom Brady, a trade for Rob Gronkowski and draft selections such as Tristan Wirfs and Antoine Winfield Jr..

The Buccaneers assembled the most talented roster in franchise history, and it resulted in a Super Bowl run fans will never forget.

Gronkowski recently appeared on the “4th and South” podcast, hosted by Jarvis Landry and former Buccaneers running back Leonard Fournette. With both Gronkowski and Fournette part of that championship team, the 2020 season was a natural topic of discussion.

Gronkowski described how everything came together during the Buccaneers’ Super Bowl LV win over the Kansas City Chiefs, including a playoff run that featured road victories over Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers.

“Every practice was crisp, every practice was sharp,” Gronkowski said. “The execution was at the highest it could possibly be. We were so flawless those final two weeks. It’s like everything came together.”

When asked how that team compared to others in his career, Gronkowski didn’t hesitate.

“The 2020 Bucs skill set wise, I think that team is probably the best skill set team I’ve ever been on throughout my career.” Gronkowski said. “I mean, we had everyone dude. We had Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, we had Antonio Brown, Lenny, myself, Cam Brate, and then our other running back Ronald Jones.”

Fournette added that the collection of talent actually created some challenges, even for Tom Brady, given the fact there was only one football to distribute to a vast number of playmakers who all wanted the ball in their hands.

Players, including Gronkowski and Fournette, had to learn over the course of the season to put their pride aside and embrace their roles, which allowed the team to finally find its rhythm in time for a legendary playoff run.

Fournette emerged as “Playoff Lenny” with a dominant postseason that will never be forgotten in Bucs lore, while Gronkowski caught two touchdowns in his final Super Bowl appearance.

Hearing them recount the 2020 season, it sounds like both players really enjoyed their time in Tampa Bay, and the podcast is a must-watch for any Buccaneers fan.
