The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in a downward spiral dating back to 2025. After a 5-1 start to last season, the Bucs are on a miserable 3-11 skid.
Everybody is wondering what’s gone so wrong with this team. On paper, Tampa Bay boasts one of the NFL’s most talented rosters, but it’s not translating to success on the field.
Naturally, Todd Bowles and the rest of the team’s leadership, both coaches and players, are absorbing the blame. Someone has to be accountable when a playoff-caliber roster is in free fall like this. Rob Gronkowski is the latest to suggest that something is rotten inside the Buccaneers locker room.
Rob Gronkowski just sounded the alarm on Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ culture
Gronkowski was a member of the Super Bowl champion Buccaneers team during the 2020 season, and he spent the majority of his playing career on a Patriots team led by Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. He knows what a winning culture looks like.
Whatever he’s seeing from this Buccaneers team is not meeting that standard or living up to the winning culture he was a part of in Tampa Bay.
Just a day after Bruce Arians appeared on Up & Adams and sounded off on Baker Mayfield and the offense’s struggles, Gronkowski went on the show and similarly expressed his concerns about the Buccaneers.
Gronkowski says winless start for Buccaneers comes down to "culture."

“They lost Mike Evans, the longest-tenured player, along with Lavonte David as well. Those were culture guys. They brought the team together.”
Gronkowski went on to call the Buccaneers a talented team that can compete with even the best teams in the NFL on any given day. But they make too many mistakes to be a consistent winning football team. He cited Luke Goedeke’s holding penalty that nullified an 85-yard Chris Godwin touchdown as the type of back-breaking mistake Tampa Bay can’t seem to stop making.
Gronkowski didn’t rule out head coach Todd Bowles being held accountable and ultimately replaced as a result of the team’s struggles.
“You’ve gotta change up something when things aren’t going right, and last year, it’s a continuation from there. They should’ve went to the playoffs, they lost. Something needs to change. Something needs to flip and that is definitely going to be a conversation I would say leading up to the future. That will be on the table for sure.”
Earlier this week, Gerald McCoy criticized the way the Buccaneers are being coached. Now, Gronkowski is expressing doubts about the team’s culture and leadership. As former Tampa Bay stars continue to come out of the woodwork and raise the same red flags about this team that are being called out by the fans and media, and it seems there’s a five-alarm fire at One Buc Place right now.
