The Tampa Bay Buccaneers haven't been subtle in their desire to upgrade their tight end depth. They used more of their pre-draft visits on tight ends than any other offensive position.
Georgia tight end Oscar Delp, a fast-rising draft prospect, became a popular fit for the Buccaneers. Bucs fans took a liking to Delp due to how well he fit their needs at the tight end position, but the pipe dream came to an abrupt end after the New Orleans Saints pounced and took Delp just a few picks ahead of Tampa Bay.
Saints continue to build dangerous offense after drafting Oscar Delp
The Saints offense is quietly becoming a formidable unit that the Buccaneers can't afford to ignore. They began their draft by selecting Jordyn Tyson, who many considered the best wide receiver in the draft class.
Now, they added Oscar Delp to the mix -- a versatile tight end who is a receiving threat but also a capable blocker.
These moves come after the Saints made a splash in free agency and selected do-it-all running back Travis Etienne.
The pieces are all in place for quarterback Tyler Shough, and if he can build off his impressive rookie season, the Saints can take the NFL by surprise as one of the league's most dangerous young teams.
The Buccaneers will have their work cut out for them in 2026, as the rest of the NFC South continues to make big improvements throughout the offseason. The Saints in particular are making the kinds of moves that could make them a thorn in the Bucs' sides for years to come.
