Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2026 schedule rumors

Rumor: Bucs could host Steelers on Christmas Day

Take this one with a grain of salt, but there’s a rumor floating around that the Buccaneers will host the Steelers on Christmas according to Andrew Fillipponi.

It’s reminiscent of a rumor from last year that spread like wildfire, claiming the Bucs would face the Rams on Thanksgiving. In reality, Tampa Bay did face the Rams during Thanksgiving week but not on Thanksgiving Day as initially rumored.

Something similar could be afoot here, and the Bucs could very well face the Steelers in Week 16, but a Christmas Day game feels like a long shot.

The Bucs did play on Christmas back in 2022, so there’s precedent there, and it would be quite the gift to watch the team take center stage on the holiday. For now though, nothing is confirmed.

Rumor: Buccaneers likely to play on the road in Week 1

Fox Sports’ Greg Auman did some digging and discovered that Bruno Mars will be performing at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday, September 13.

That happens to be the opening Sunday of the 2026 NFL season, so the Bucs are almost certainly going to be sent on the road for the season opener.

Rumor: Ed Sheeran will impact the Buccaneers in Week 9

Auman reports that like Mars in Week 1, Ed Sheeran plays at Raymond James Stadium in Week 9. Sheeran’s concert takes place on Saturday night, so there are three options for the Buccaneers: travel for a road game, host a Thursday Night Football games or host a Monday Night Football game.

Rumor: Bucs to host Jets in preseason opener

According to Chris Myers of Fox Sports, the Buccaneers might be opening up their preseason with a trip to New Jersey to take on the Jets. This could be accompanied by joint practices -- as the two teams similarly held joint practices together back in 2022.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2026 schedule leaks

Leak: Buccaneers will face Bengals on the road in season opener

According to NerdingonNFL, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will travel to Cincinnati to face the Bengals for the season opener on Sunday Sept. 13 at 1 p.m..

Leak: Buccaneers to host Panthers on Monday Night Football in Week 12

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will host the Carolina Panthers in Week 12 in a game that will help determine the NFC South, per NerdingonNFL.

Last year, the Bucs and Panthers race for the NFC South crown came all the way down to the final week of the season. Seeing the two teams get the prime time love in a pivotal game is great news for the division.

Leak: Buccaneers to face Bears on Sunday Night Football in Week 9

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will get an opportunity in the Sunday night spotlight for the second year in a row.

In Week 9 (Nov. 8), the Bucs will travel to Soldier Field to take on the Bears in prime time according to Aileen Hnatiuk.

It’s an exciting matchup between Baker Mayfield and Caleb Williams, and could prove to have some implications for the NFC playoff race.

Leak: Buccaneers won't travel to Dallas on Thanksgiving

It was always a long shot, but Bucs fans wanted to see Tampa Bay play on Thanksgiving for the first time since 2006. With away games against the Cowboys and Lions, who each host games every Thanksgiving, the Bucs potentially had a chance in the holiday spotlight.

But unsurprisingly, the NFL opted for an NFC East showdown instead, with Adam Schefter confirming that the Cowboys will host the Philadelphia Eagles on Thanksgiving. That leaves the Lions as the only realistic path for a Buccaneers Thanksgiving Day game, but the Bucs might not have the market to make the cut in today's ratings-driven selection process.
