Tez Johnson gave Bucs fans a glimpse of what this offense can become

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have a new-look offense in 2026 after hiring Zac Robinson to be the new offensive coordinator. 

Fans are eager for any hints they can gather about how the offense might look, and this week’s mandatory minicamp provided a sneak peek. 

Tez Johnson showcased the explosive potential of Buccaneers’ offense

Based on reports coming out of mandatory minicamp, the Bucs took plenty of shots downfield and converted some explosive plays. 

One player in particular who made his share of big plays was Tez Johnson. According to Logan B. Robinson of BucsGameday, Johnson had two touchdowns — including one om a deep ball during team drills.

Johnson was only a seventh-round rookie last year, but he far surpassed expectations and made his impact felt with five touchdowns on the season. His most memorable play of the year was a deep touchdown catch against the 49ers, proving his ability as a deep threat.

Johnson sometimes gets lost in the shuffle of a crowded wide receiver room that features Emeka Egbuka, Chris Godwin, Jalen McMillan, and Ted Hurst. But Johnson is a big play waiting to happen, and will make defenses pay if they forget about him in 2026.

“I’m just happy that he’s getting the offense down and understanding where he’s gotta be,” said head coach Todd Bowles.

“Tez is just lightning in a bottle as he’s always been, so I feel like we have a really fun dynamic in our wide receiver room right now,” said Egbuka.

Johnson seems to have offered a real glimpse at the big-play potential of this Bucs offense, and the team could look to make explosive plays downfield all year long thanks to one of the deepest wide receiver rooms in the NFL.
