Eli Apple. 25. player. 55. <p>The Steelers defense isn’t what it used to be; specifically in the passing game.  None of the corners on the roster currently look like long-term solutions on the outside, and even the safety position will need youth sooner rather than later.</p> <p>Ohio State cornerback Eli Apple is an aggressive cover corner who can play in man or zone schemes, and is effective in both.  In the Buckeyes’ National Championship campaign, the defense was crucial to keeping their season alive as the offense often struggled to nail down their identity.</p> <p>As the Buckeyes best cover man, Apple was one of the lesser known keys to their success.  His style of play will help the Steelers bring back their signature aggressiveness, and provide the Steelers with a solid outside presence.</p>
