The Buccaneers didn’t go out empty-handed from the NFL Honors. Yes, John Lynch came up short of his Hall of Fame induction. We are all still reeling a bit from that. However, it wasn’t an entirely bad night for Bucs fans. We did earn one award.
They also gave out the award for Play of the Year. They counted down from five to one. The Bucs actually appeared on the list twice, as Jameis Winston‘s escape pass to Mike Evans was on the list.
But, the Bucs also brought home the top spot. Mike Evans earned the top play honors for his one-handed catch against the Atlanta Falcons.
Take a look to remember:
What a play it was, am I right? He showed the athletic ability to go up and bring the ball down like that. Odell Beckham would have been proud. Then, to be able to absorb the hit that he took and still be able to control the football? Not that they ever did, but nobody can say Mike Evans isn’t tough. He clearly is as tough as they come. The athleticism, strength, and the concentration showed the league just how good Evans really is.
Evans doesn’t get the national attention he deserves anyway, so it’s great to finally see him noticed among the greats of the game today. It is more than deserved.
Way to go Evans, getting it done in primetime.
