Jerry Jeudy joins Tampa Bay Buccaneers in recent mock draft
By Cory Kinnan
As the search for a third wide receiver continues for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they select Alabama star Jerry Jeudy with the eighth pick in the draft.
The Draft Network continues to bless us all with weekly mock drafts from a different member of their staff. This week, PewterReport and TDN’s Trevor Sikkema did the honors, and with the eight pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Sikkema had the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selecting Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.
Jeudy, deemed as the best wide receiver in this draft class by the majority, is the first receiver taken off of the board in this mock as the pewter and red add another weapon to the crew already consisting of Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and O.J. Howard. Given their struggles to find a third wide receiver in this offense as Breshad Perriman has not made an impact and neither Scotty Miller nor Justin Watson have stepped up, this pick actually makes a bit of sense.
"“This board is a nightmare for the Bucs. In reality, they’d love an offensive tackle, but with three already off the board (plus Chase Young gone) I have them going outside the box for what might be the ‘best’ choice” (Sikkema via TDN)."

The three tackles Sikkema is referring to in this mock draft are Georgia’s Andrew Thomas, Iowa’s Tristan Wirfs, and Alabama’s Jedrick Wills. While this tackle class is a deep one, the drop off from tier one to tier two is steep, and the Bucs may be better off grabbing a tier two guy in the second round instead if these three are already off the board.
Jeudy came into the season with hype due to his ability to make plays after the catch and because of his crisp footwork that leads to great route running ability. He has done nothing this season to dissuade anyone from taking him in the top 10 of the 2020 NFL Draft (this writer’s scouting report on Jeudy can be found here).
Through nine games this season, Jeudy has tallied 57 catches for 753 yards and nine scores for the Crimson Tide; averaging just over 13 yards per catch. While he is off pace to hit his numbers from a year ago, Jeudy is sharing the field with two other promising, draft eligible receivers in Henry Ruggs and DeVonta Smith as well.
Adding Jeudy into the picture with Evans, Godwin, and Howard, quarterback Jameis Winston (or whoever will be under center in 2020) a new toy to play with. With the eighth overall pick, Jeudy goes from crimson and white to pewter and red.
