CBS Sports released its latest preseason power rankings for the 2020 NFL season and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were the biggest winners.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are surging up preseason lists as we stand currently about five months away from the start of the 2020 NFL season.

The Buccaneers made a major signing in Tom Brady and now all of a sudden are becoming the darkhorse picks, not just to make the playoffs, but to even potentially come away with a Super Bowl.

This is evident in the latest preseason power rankings released by CBS Sports. Here’s a look at the top-10 teams in the league, according to CBS Sports here before the start of the NFL Draft.

  1. Kansas City Chiefs
  2. Baltimore Ravens
  3. New Orleans Saints
  4. San Francisco 49ers
  5. Green Bay Packers
  6. Seattle Seahawks
  7. Buffalo Bills
  8. Philadelphia Eagles
  9. Dallas Cowboys
  10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers were previously ranked 19th in the power rankings before the free-agency period and you can see just what adding Tom Brady- and keeping that front-seven intact- can do for a team moving forward.

Of course, Tampa Bay still has some work to do.

For the Bucs to continue ascending up power rankings- and Vegas’ odds- they’ll need to have a solid NFL Draft. That includes addressing positions and filling needs, such as offensive tackle, running back, wide receiver, defensive back and defensive line.

While many will continue to doubt Tampa Bay, there’s no reason to believe that the Buccaneers can’t compete with the New Orleans Saints in the NFC South division. The Saints are a super-team with depth all over the field, no doubt, but the Bucs certainly have the offensive firepower- combined with Tom Brady- to become legitimate competition.

As they compete in the division, there’s also no reason to believe that Tampa won’t be able to compete for a wildcard spot and then anything can happen once you get to the playoffs.
