Bruce Arians and the coaching staff have to be better

The Buccaneer coaching staff is the number one reason why the Bucs have faltered so far this season. Individual player performances have been above-average across the board, but the play-calling and decision-making have been baffling.

Arians’ stubborn demeanor and personality were charming at first, but they have quickly grown stale. The analytics-averse approach is about to be similar to the dinosaurs, and the NFL is a numbers game above all else in the modern era.

Establishing the run is obsolete, running on first down harms offensive efficiency, and throwing players under the bus for unsuccessful play-calling will further divide the team.

Running the football, especially for the Buccaneers, should only come when the passing game is clicking, not to open up passing routes. Throwing on first down leads to a much greater rate of first-down conversions, and people wonder why Brady is continually stuck with third and long scenarios.

The offense collapses at inexplicable points, and the majority of this blame falls on Bruce Arians’ shoulders. Byron Leftwich is also to blame for these issues, but Arians takes the majority of the responsibility as the head coach.

This site has said it for weeks, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will not reach their potential if they do not heavily embrace analytics for the future.
